In a low-key ceremony conducted in the Lamido palace in Yola on Friday, September 25th, 2015, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, is said to have tied the knot with his rumored heartthrob, Sa’adatu Barkindo-Musdafa, daughter of the Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo-Musdafa.

Since the news broke out over the weekend, many Nigerians took to Twitter to air their views on the marriage and the hashtag #ChildNotBride has been trending on Twitter. According to reports in the Premium Times, Sa’adatu who recently completed her secondary school education will become the emir’s fourth wife.

Sources inside the palace report that the wedding fatiha took place just after the Jumma’at prayers, with the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, acting as the guardian for the groom, while his Adamawa State counterpart, Jibrilla Bindow, stood in as the bride’s guardian.
