Omoyele Sowore, national chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC) and presidential candidate for 2023, on Saturday dismissed reports that he had spoken positively about Peter Obi, another presidential candidate and a member of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP), according to Sowore Obi to the corrupt politicians in Nigeria.
"The news that's going around that I said Peter Obi isn't CORRUPT is completely WRONG! I never said anything like that. My position is clear, Peter Obi is no different from his colleagues at PDP and APC. They are equal! he wrote on his verified Facebook page.
Obi, the PDP's vice-presidential candidate in the 2019 general election, declared his interest in running for president in 2023 at a meeting with the monarchs of Anambra state on Thursday. He pledged to take Nigeria forward, if granted the opportunity to lead the country.
Obi's statement came shortly after the PDP's presidential flag-bearer in the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, also expressed his interest. Atiku, who ran alongside Obi as his vice presidential nominee, expressed his interest Wednesday.
